The Parkers Chapel School Board voted tonight that effective immediately, masks will be encouraged but not required. We will continue to follow all other recommended guidelines. Social distancing of 3 feet in classrooms when possible will stay in effect. In the event that there is a positive case, we will follow quarantine recommendations (the positive person and those in close proximity will be quarantined unless both had masks on). This is a reminder that if there is a positive test in your household, that is not the student, the student must be out during that person’s quarantine time and then must start their own quarantine at the end of the positive person’s quarantine. The times are not consecutive. Nurse Kaci is the only person authorized to give you a return date for school.

December 15, 2020 Due to an increased number of positive Covid-19 tests and a large portion of our faculty being quarantined, the Parkers Chapel School District will be moving to all virtual instruction as of Wednesday, December 16th, through Friday, December 18th. We feel that it is best for our community and school district to cancel on campus instruction to decrease contact and prevent any possible spread. This on-site closing will result in the preschool programs and k-12 classes being dismissed. K-2 will have paper practice. They may access the same work virtually instead if they choose to do so. Grades 3-6 will have work posted online. This will need to accessed by a home device. Remember, the student may use a tablet, chromebook, phone, etc. You must add their google school account to your device. The teachers in grades 3-6 will explain to students what is expected and it will be posted on the google classroom thread. Instruction will continue during this time, and all students will be expected to log on to their google classrooms for all assignments and/or exams. Teachers will record lessons, respond to emails, and post assignments/tests for the remainder of the week. Please respect their office hours of 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. We will resume on-site classes on January 4, 2021. Extracurricular activities this week or during the break are not affected by this change. Please continue to keep our staff informed of any student that develops symptoms or tests positive for Covid-19 during this break from school. Report this information to Nurse Kaci Burton by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 870-310-3321. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but again we feel it is necessary for the safety of our students, staff, and community to suspend face to face instruction at this time. We will continue to provide the Parkers Chapel standard of instruction and appreciate your support and patience. Carrie Burson, Elementary Principal Michael J. White Superintendent
Parkers Chapel School District will transition to virtual learning for the remainder of the week, December 16-18. Check our website for more information.

This is a reminder that normal “face to face” school will resume tomorrow. If your child was quarantined and you are unsure about the date he/she may return, please contact your child’s teacher. If your child tested positive, he/she will have to have a clearance return letter from the AR Dept. of Health. If you need assistance with this, reach out to Nurse Kaci at firstname.lastname@example.org. If your child has come in contact with a positive person or has tested positive over the holiday break, please contact Nurse Kaci as soon as possible. Please remember to send water bottles, clean backpacks, and jackets with names written inside.

If you plan for your child to complete his/her daily class work at home, you will need to be present at the meeting this Wednesday. Email email@example.com if you have questions.
I want to answer a few common questions that I am receiving. (1) Do we need anything from a doctor for our child to return to school? (2) Why is a black sock on the supply list? (3) Do we need to go ahead and put the supplies in the student’s pencil pouch? (4) Will students bring all of the supplies when they go back, or will parents drop supplies off at the school? Answers: (1) A doctor’s note is needed for anyone that is NOT to wear a mask when traveling at school. (2) The black sock is used as an eraser at their desk when using dry-erase markers. (3 & 4) I will meet with teachers August 6-12 and we will publish a plan concerning supplies that we agree works best for students, parents, and teachers at that time.
