The Parkers Chapel School Board voted tonight that effective immediately, masks will be encouraged but not required. We will continue to follow all other recommended guidelines. Social distancing of 3 feet in classrooms when possible will stay in effect. In the event that there is a positive case, we will follow quarantine recommendations (the positive person and those in close proximity will be quarantined unless both had masks on). The cleaning regimen of the campus will stay a top priority. It is extremely important that if a student has any symptoms, the student must stay at home & the school nurse must be contacted.
PC Theater presents Check Please! this Thursday and Saturday (April 15 and 17) at 7pm. Tickets are $5 at the door. Masks are required. This play is a one-act and will last 30 minutes. All proceeds help support PC's theater program.
We will be hosting a COVID-19 Student Vaccination clinic Wednesday, April 14th at 1pm in our auditorium for any 16yr old or older student on our campus. Information was sent home yesterday with the students. These consent forms need to be returned by tomorrow, April 9th to Nurse Kaci. Parents: If your student is 16 years old or older, they will be bringing home information packets and registration forms for the COVID-19 vaccine today. Please look over this information and complete the registration form if you would like for your child to be vaccinated. Completed forms are due back to the High School office by 3 pm this Friday, April 9th. As soon as we have a date set for the vaccination clinic we will send out another message.

DOG IN CAR LINE / PARKING LOT - a beautiful boxer with a collar (no name or address) has been coming to the back parking lot during the morning and day. Today the dog crossed Evans Drive and held up the car line. If anyone knows who this dog belongs to please let them know it is on the loose and was last seen at the Lloyd's house right beside the fence entering the back parking lot.
Community Fund Raiser - Tomorrow (Wednesday 3/17) is the last day to make a donation to the 50/50 community fund raiser. High School students may turn in money at the office or during the lunch period. Elementary students need to turn their money in to their teachers. Please send any amount you can to help out. Even $1 or $5 will make a difference in someone's life. Donations will be split between the #teamcorrie cancer foundation and the men injured in the Delek fire/explosion. Checks need to be made payable to PC Activity. "I wonder who will get to shave Mr. Hoover's head?"
Kindergarten and the PC (paid) Preschool Registration will be handing out registration packets this evening between 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in front of the elementary building (pull along next to the awning out front). These packets need to be completed and returned to the elementary office, or they can be dropped of Thursday evening 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the same location. Physicals are not required to turn in the packet, but need to be done before school starts in August 2021. Please spread the word so students are added to the enrollment list for 2021-2022 school year.

Elementary ACT Aspire Testing Dates Announced: 6th grade students will take the state ACT Aspire test on April 20, 21, and 22. 3rd through 5th grade students will take the ACT Aspire test on April 27, 28, and 29. Virtual students will take the ACT Aspire Test on the same dates as their classmates.
Parkers Chapel School will be raising money for a community service project beginning today. Students will be able to donate as many times as possible to their homeroom. 100% of this money will be donated to the following charities: (1) #teamcorrie and (2) Delek workers hospitalized following the recent fire/explosion at the local plant. Mr. Hoover and the school chose to donate 50% of the money raised to #teamcorrie in memory of Mrs. Corrie Gross Bechtelheimer. The other 50% will be will be given to the Delek burn victims to assist with their families' needs as they recover. Any amount you can give will be truly appreciated. High school will be divided in to 2 groups, 7-9th graders and 10-12th graders. The group that raises the most money will win an ice cream party. Elementary Testing Dates Announced: NWEA Map Growth Assessments for Kindergarten, First, and Second Grades will be May 5th (Math) and May 6th (Literacy). NWEA Map Growth Testing for virtual K, 1, and 2 students will be May 10th and May 11th at 8:30 AM.

Kindergarten and the Paid PC Preschool registration will look a little different this year. Next Tuesday (March 16th) parents of students entering kindergarten next year will be able to pull up in front of our school and pick up a kindergarten packet from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. This packet will have papers that need to be completed. We will need copies of birth certificates, social security cards, and shot records. You will have until the new school year to obtain your child's physical from a doctor. The packets must be dropped off on Thursday, March 18th , from 5:30-7:30 PM. Parents that wish to enroll their child in the Paid PC Preschool Program will also be able to pick up a packet at the same time. These will also be due back on Thursday, March 18, from 5:30-7:30 PM. The cost for the paid program next year will be $120 weekly. Packets may also be picked up at any time at the elementary office between the hours of 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Please spread the word.

Information concerning Covid testing & Covid exposure: If anyone in your house tested positive for Covid-19 during the break from school or if anyone came in direct contact with someone who tested positive, please contact Nurse Kaci Burton today at 870-310-3321 to verify clearance before returning to school. This is a reminder that if there is a positive test in your household, that is not the student, the student must be out during that person’s quarantine time and then must start their own quarantine at the end of the positive person’s quarantine. The times are not consecutive. Nurse Kaci is the only person authorized to give you a return date for school.

Each competition team must have 4 females, 4 males, and 4 additional students. All competetion teams are made up of 12 members. Students do not have to compete to participate. Practices for students younger than 4th grade will be announced at a later time.

If this date changes, it will be posted on the school's website and a push notification will be sent out through the school app. Teachers will continue to post virtual lessons for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. If elementary students do not have access to a device to watch the recorded lessons, the teacher will provide an opportunity to get caught up the week of Nov. 30th. Work is also being sent home with all students to complete and return on the 30th. If a student is currently out due to illness or quarantine, these papers will be given to the student on the 30th to complete. Again, most students will come home with this work today. Progress reports are also being sent home today. Any student that develops symptoms should be tested and self quarantine until they receive the results of their test. Teachers will record lessons, respond to emails, and post assignments for the remainder of the week. Please respect their office hours of 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. All extracurricular activities this week are being postponed. Any student that develops symptoms or tests positive for Covid-19 during this time must report this information to Nurse Kaci Burton by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 870-310-3321. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but again we feel it is necessary for the safety of our students, staff, and community to suspend face to face instruction at this time. Parkers Chapel School District Friday, November 13, 2020 Dear Parents, Students, and Faculty: Recently the Parkers Chapel School District notified the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) of positive cases of COVID-19 in the Parkers Chapel School District. The district followed the ADH protocols to identify probable close contacts. Those who have met the criteria have been contacted. The district has taken active measures to deep clean and disinfect the facilities appropriately. Parkers Chapel School District will continue to work with the ADH and follow all guidelines and protocols as directed. We appreciate the cooperation of our parents, students, and staff during these difficult times. Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases and quarantines, the Parkers Chapel Administration has made the difficult, but necessary decision to forfeit tonight’s playoff game at Clarendon. This sadly concludes our season. Tickets will be refunded by the Arkansas Activities Association; this typically takes 7-10 business days to credit the customers debit/credit card. Please wash masks & water bottles. All students must have a water bottle from home to refill each day. All students must have a mask with at least two or three extra masks to use if something happens to the one they use at the beginning of the day. We have been notified that the flu mist will NOT be available for our flu shot clinic tomorrow. Just a reminder that today, 10-24, is NOT an early release day. PCHS will be dismissed at our normal 3:30 time today.
Clarification: some quarantined students will be returning before the 27th (flu clinic day). Those are the forms that can be emailed or dropped off. If the quarantined student is coming back after the 27th, they will not be able to participate in the school’s flu clinic this year.
Students that are currently quarantined may scan the flu forms and email them as attachments to firstname.lastname@example.org - as long as they are received tomorrow. You can use the “notes” app on iPhones to take a picture of the forms and then send as an email attachment using the upload icon. Send the originals when students return from quarantine please. You can also drop them off at the elementary office front door if that is easier. There will be a folder on the door where you can place the forms.

Elementary Parent - Teacher Conferences will be handled a little differently this fall. The actual date for conferences is Tuesday, October 20th. We will be requiring conferences for any student that is working below level (has a D or F on his/her report card) or if there are conduct issues or study habit issues that need to be addressed. These conferences can be face to face, virtual, or through phone communication. A letter will be coming home tomorrow in your child’s folder that must be signed and returned on Friday. This letter will notify you if a meeting is required. It will also list your conference time. Report cards will be handed out at the meeting if face to face. Report cards will be sent home with students if no meeting is required. All report cards must be signed and returned to document the signature / notification of grades. These will be returned to parents. Of course, if any parent wants to meet with teachers, they can request a meeting. Thank you in advance for helping us make this adjustment to conferences.

Water Bottles - Please remember to wash and send clean - filled water bottles with students each day. There are no available water fountains. There are water bottle refilling stations. It is hot and students get thirsty throughout the day. We provide opportunities often throughout the day to refill water bottles. Each student needs to bring their refillable bottle each day. Thank you for your help with this. (idea: clip it to the backpack - wash and sanitize as soon as they are home; clip back to backpack; each morning refill)
This is reminder to check your child's backpack. Each student is supposed to have two extra masks in their backpack or in a designated area determined by their teacher. We have had to provide several masks today. Wash and restock backpacks this weekend please. If students don't have extras, we will have to call parents to bring them if they need arises. Football - students attending the games must remain in the stands during the game. Students need to sit with their parents. Do not run around or play during the game. Do not stand on the fence line. School will be dismissed tomorrow in an effort to ensure student safety. Teachers will post virtual assignments in their google classrooms. Students will be expected to log in and complete their assignments. If there is no power, if you have no connection, or if there is a device issue, students will be allowed to complete their assignments within a time determined by their teacher. This is a reminder that any student planning to do "VIRTUAL" school must turn in the parent signed form, which was handed out at the "Virtual" meeting last Wednesday (Aug. 6 at 6 PM). Unfortunately someone in our district has tested positive for COVID-19. We have acted immediately based on the CDC and AR Department of Health guidelines. This person has been quarantined and will be monitored. Everyone who has come into contact with this person will be notified to self quarantine for 14 days. As ordered by our governor, all public schools will be closed through April 17th, 2020. Teachers will continue to push out instruction and assessments through digital formats. Attendance, grades, and promotion will be derived from previous grades this year and the submitted work and grades on these assignments and assessments. After we are allowed to return to school, teachers will continue to assign some work through the digital format.

The Parkers Chapel School District will postpone kindergarten and preschool registration for the 2020-2021 school year. Originally scheduled for Friday, March 20th, the school will now be closed on 3/20 and will reschedule this registration. We will announce the new date as soon as it is scheduled.

Elementary students came home today with a list of user names & passwords for accessing instructional sites. They also have a google email & password for accessing "google classroom". These logins will be used in the event we have to provide digital - at home - instruction.
